Checking in for a night to remember

VISITORS to an international festival are invited to check in for a hotel stay they will never forget.
The critically-acclaimed Electric Hotel, showing tonight, tomorrow and Friday, is part of the entertainment at the Stockton International Riverside Festival, which starts today.
A series of shipping containers has been placed in a car park in Church Road, to create a five-storey, 45ft high, art-deco hotel where London production company Fuel will create a fantasy world on which 500 headphone-wearers will eavesdrop.
On the top floor is an outdoor swimming pool and nightclub.
Stockton International Riverside Festival (Sirf) is a five-day programme of street theatre, dance, circus acts and aerial shows.
Jan Doherty, Stockton Borough Council’s festival co-ordinator, said: “Electric Hotel will be one of the real must-see shows of Sirf 2010.
“It really is an impressive sight and the show provides an intimate experience for the audiences as they enjoy the visual spectacle while hearing the audio through their headphones.”
