KIDSGROVE: Police are warning the public, particularly elderly residents, to be on their guard against bogus workmen following an incident near Kidsgrove Bank yesterday.
An elderly man was approached by four men, offering to clean out his guttering for a nominal fee. The men started work and then claimed further extensive work would be needed and demanded a larger quantity of cash.
The men are described as white with an Irish accent and were driving a blue estate car with ladders fixed to the roof.
